East Maitland Preschool - George Street

Welcome to our George Street Preschool, we have provided an inclusive,  responsive preschool program at 137 George Street since 1956. We provide early education and care to 30 children each day during school terms in a warm, welcoming environment. Our homelike environment provides the perfect setting for children to grow and learn. We place an emphasis on the importance of relationships and encourage family participation in our program.

Our Location

Our George Street preschool operates from a beautifully renovated historic hall, with open spaces inside to inspire and create. Outside there are spaces for growing, digging, riding and running, places to build friendships and explore.  Our location is handy to our local community and we venture out to the local shops to connect with others and practice new skills.

​Our Daily Routine

We value time spent in pondering, time to connect and build relationships. Throughout the day there is a mix of opportunities for indoor and outdoor play, free play and collaborative group experiences. 
Children are supported during play to build upon existing skills and knowledge, and opportunities are taken to learn new ones. Small group experiences are offered through the day so children gain the skills to be active citizens, to share their voice and to gain a greater understanding of ideas.
Whilst there is no formal 'sleep time' at preschool children are also given opportunities to rest and replenish their bodies.

Our Educators

A qualified Early Childhood Teacher along with qualified Educators guide the children throughout the day, using opportunities for intentional teaching to actively promote children's learning. They also get to know each child as an individual, adapting the daily program to suit their needs and interests.
We offer higher staffing ratios to ensure a responsive and inclusive program. Our Educators continually seek ways to build upon professional knowledge and improve practices through reflecting on our program and practices, as well as participating in professional development.
An experienced Educational Leader leads our educators in reflection, analysis and planning of our program.
